School Teacher Information
The museum is open for School Tours for two weeks in May prior to the regular season opening. During a school tour, students are able to do a variety of activities, from engaging in a scavenger hunt though the exhibits, to having a lesson taught in the Joliet School, just to name a few. Many of the school groups that come to the museum are fourth graders, because that is the most common year to teach Wisconsin history. However, there are numerous ways that middle school and high school classes may also use this unique teaching tool. If you are a teacher and would like to arrange a field trip to the museum, please contact Sandy Carlson, Assistant Director at 715-458-2080, or e-mail (museum1@chibardun.net). Suggestions for Classroom Activities related to a trip to the Museum. Make a model of the museum. Compare items from the past to items used today. Conduct a day of school as if you were in the Joliet School 100 years ago.
